I'd be interested on peoples thourghts , i've always thourght that belts whine when they are generally too tight, mine whine a bit, which doesn't sound too good when sitting at the traffic lights, is there anything i can do to shut them up ??

On the 968, the cam belt has a spring loaded tensioner, but the balance shaft belts need to be tensioned manually. I have been told that as long the the balance belt can be hearding "singing" a little, the tension is fine.

The belts always whine a little, they seem to be worse when new & normally quieten a little after 2-3K miles.
