Took full advantage of the weather today, with a full tank and roof off it was time for a Sunday drive including a stop at a nice country pub for a bite to eat. Had a great day...:)

I ordered some coilovers, fuel pump, and brake fluid so I could get the car ready to back together this weekend. Looking forward to its transformation!

It's been sitting around with no gearbox for about a year now so that'll be going back in this weekend as well.

Gaz golds(rear) arrived on Tuesday. So I got them fitted last night after work. It appears to have sorted out my saggy rear. Need to play with the damping and rebound next. I have the 225lb springs.

I fitted my Spax coilovers and discovered that now the back end of the car sits much higher than it did on the tired old dampers.

Fitted a new fuel pump, refitted the gearbox, four new CV joints and got everything connected back up.

Decided to celebrate by fitting a new crank position sensor and dropped the bolt down behind the flywheel. So now I'm celebrating by pulling the engine out!

Before going to such a drastic and very costly option I'd try all other avenues first...try a variety of magnets on arms to see if you can reach the bolt, probably the best option is from underneath. Try the clutch wear viewing inspection hole or by removing the starter motor. You may get lucky and find the bolt is accessible from one of these. If not? well, you'll need to remove the starter as part of removing the engine anyway so nothing lost.

good luck

Yup tried all those. It fell behind the flywheel. Checked the rear of my old dead block and i have a good idea where it is but the sump seal prevents approach from underneath.

Found a worn ball joint whilst prepping for removal so at least i caught that. Also an excuse to flush the coolant.

ok...well something else that I would try is a few heavy clout's around the bell housing, you may get lucky and it'll drop down.....last resort would be to stick it in gear, get a few friends and try rocking...Having done an 'engine out' job perhaps I'm just a little more 'try all else first' than most......:)

good luck

Tried to find out why the horn, all interior lights and the clock won't work.
Also removed the glove box lid ready to replace the broken arm.
Does sitting in the car grinning madly like a Cheshire Cat count? :D

Had the NSR wheel bearing replaced today, much quieter although I can now hear more noise coming from the torque tube

Fitted new bonnet/skuttle seal. I'm hoping that one will reduce the engine smell when driving. Looking at the state of the old seal I doubt it was doing much at all and quite an easy one to fit.

Also tackled the extra two inches of hatch seal I had after fitting the new one. Managed to work the excess back around and lose it around the top and corners, so now it all fits with no extra left over (glad I didn't cut any off - sorry brulynn).

Bad news though I seem to have a leak. Coolant a bit low so I'm guessing that's what it is (definitely not petrol or oil). Topped back up with water for now, anyone know what the right coolant to use is?

Soaked the resistor block in cheap vinegar, solved the max fan speed only problem, Yay :D

Replaced the cassette holder hinge plastic thing , Yay

Couldn't get drivers seat out with the allen keys I had available, (stiff to move seat forward/backward and only one side of the rear height adjuster working) , Boo :!:

Problem now with the rear hatch lock not opening using the key (it was working a week ago, but not now). Electric switch in driver foot-well working fine, but hatch won't open, no whirring from the opening mechanism anymore, when I use the key? Any ideas?

Just a thought, the cassette storage space and ashtray are not really that useful, does anyone know of any replacement / non standard bits that are available to screw in / change these to say, an ipod / phone dock ? There's power to the ashtray area for the light and the ashtray and cassette storage area could be removed and something more useful screwed into the standard mountings if there is such a thing on the market.

There is a micro switch on the key lock for the boot, I would think that's your issue

Got the clock working, washed & polished it and tried to find out where the strong smell of fuel is coming from.
