Got really dismayed earlier.... more jobs keep leaping out at me and not enough time to do them all - I'll be lucky to be on the road for July at this rate :( Fuel lines... who'd have 'em eh?

Met up with Warby at the Porsche Fairmile Cobham meet last week and a photographer friend of his John Rampton took this one of my car.
Well pleased with the result 8)

I drove my 924/68 for the first time in 6 months yesterday.
It's had a few issues with the fuel rail leaks and they are not the easiest part to locate. Was hoping to get a billet fuel rail from 2 different places in USA and it's been a Ruddy Mission. Finally gave up on that idea and found another used rail in USA 2 months ago, it took 5 weeks to get here.

It's now at JMG to try and sort out a modification to the fuel hoses to aleviate the pressure on the delicate return pipe.
It was nice to get back behind the wheel of it :D

Changed plugs and refitted the MAF kit, doesn't like the cold weather so I run with the barn door in winter. Got the rear lock working and had a congratulatory beer.

Finally removed the Hydraulic Clutch hose and fitted the new Goodridge braided hose, next mission is to bleed the system and replace all the brake fluid. I read that you have to remove the starter motor to get to the Master Cylinder - so not looking forward to that one!

Slave cylinder, not master. it is easy, few nuts for starter wiring and few bolts for starter motor, then 7mm if i remember good for slave cylinder bleeder

Got somewhat narked at the slight hesitancy on a light throttle and kangarooing on gentle throttle
openings at junctions. Ordered a replacement (refurbed) AFM from Andy at Promax. This was on
an offer from him that as long as I kept the replacement clean he would accept it back if it made
no difference which was very generous. I had gone through various checks of hoses etc and hadn't been
able to find anything amiss.

Pulled the old Afm out (which I had already re-tracked a while back) and decided to give the ISV
a clean out with carb cleaner. Once out, the vac line from it into the inlet plenum gave up it's dirty secret,
a 3 inch split along the seam which wouldn't be helping! I repaired it temporarily with super glue and self
amalgamating tape until the new one arrives. I put it all back in with the OLD afm and the car ran an
awful lot better with just a suggestion of hesitation on light throttle. I was very tempted just to send
the new Afm back but stuck it in out of curiosity. Another big difference in drivability and it will now
happily pull third at slow speed on just a tickle of throttle through junctions and seems a bit less
whiffy (technical term) to boot :D

Not cheap in the end but a big difference that will hopefully last.

Just doing a suspension overhaul at the moment.
So replaced rear shocks with some Sachs gas ones and new bolts.
Front struts all stripped down and cleaned.
Going to repaint the housing and then rebuild with new gas inserts, new top mounts and new eliptical bolts.
Also on the lookout for new springs, either stock 160lbs or I might uprate to 180lbs.

And just sent wheels off for a refurb. :-)

Fitted a Durite lights on warning chime. Works a treat. Had a cheap buzzer, but it stopped working when I put led bulbs in. Used piggy back fuses on Cig lighter (25) and n/s parking light (40) fuses so I can use the o/s parking light facility. I ran the third wire to the passenger door switch as it was nearer and spliced it in to the green/orange wire. Stuck the chime in the fuse box with double sided tape. No more people telling me I've left the lights on though a flat battery is a remote possibility with the led bulbs low drain.
