Got some CS springs off ebay, M030 arbs from Lindsey and freed off the big nuts on the spring plates, golly were they tight. Kill switch now working fine, disconnected the alarm siren just in case. The rear already has a bit of sag (about 10mm) so hope I'm able to level up to the 20mm drop I'll get at the front without re indexing as the adjustments are central at the moment. Should be ready for next track day at Oulton Park.

Fitted rear M030 LK rear arb (5 way adjustment) and threw away solid state battery kill, not reliable stranded me today. Bloody fuel pump keeps cutting out didn't help when I used Plus gas instead of contact cleaner on the plug/socket connector thought it smelt funny. Front M030 arb going on tomorrow with 968 air deflectors for the front brakes. May try fitting the new front springs a la through the arch method though there is the possibility I may kill one of the small "helpers" I've acquired when working on the car.

Finally got all the bits for my ARB sorted. Had the ARB, droplinks and hanger clamps media blasted and powder coated black. And recieved the FLowflex poly bush kit. Put it all together and installed yesterday. Very pleased with the outcome especailly as the media blasting, powerder coating and bush kit cost less than replacing the droplinks, clamps and standard rubber bushes - and the ARB itself was reburbed :)

On top of this, I went right through the electrical system cleaning ground points. Removed the insturments and clean up electrical connections. Now I have a fully functioning and stable Temperature gauge - finally! On top of which the dash lighting now seems a little brighter, and I have discovered the cause of no functioning odometer - one of the little gears shredded itself. Common issue I believe and have already found a supplier for the gear.

So obviously after fitting the ARB and new bushes, and getting a few more of the electrics working properly I had to go for a test drive. Bundled the misses into the car and headed off to the Trossachs for a bit of a ramble and Lochside lunch. Lovely day. Oh, and the handling is significantly improved, a joy rather than a speculative event :D

Fitted new disks, pads, brake lines, brake fluid, front wheel bearings, throttle response cam, Dansk SS exhaust centre and rear sections...undid a botched stereo install and replaced the disintegrated OEM Blaupunkts with some new Alpines (better, but they're never gonna be HiFi - the new exhaust note is far more fun though), stripped down and fixed the drivers window motor...complete front end reseal, belts, rollers, water pump by JMG (top service, thanks guys)...respray of a damaged rear quarter...M.O.T. passed with no advisories (surprisingly)....AAAAND we're ready for the European road trip on Friday.

I'm also pleased to report that the oil pressure issues are a thing of the past and the cooling system is still working beautifully (and without any more oily sludge) after a stripping it down some months ago.

Absolutely gutted that I didn't get time to do the suspension refurb before the trip...I have a brand new set of Bilstein B6's along with fresh OEM bushes and other shiny new suspension bits from the OPC that'll be sat in a box while I'm on the twisties in Switzerland...but it was an ambitious amount of work to do in the time frame with various other commitments along the way.

The bank balance has certainly suffered, probably more than it 'should' have for such an undervalued little sports car but these things get under your skin don't they? Still...the 924S is in a much better place, rescued before it became another listing in an ever increasing pool of 99p parts reserves. I've certainly learnt a huge amount about these fabulous cars and how to fix them with no prior experience - much of it down to you guys and your fantastic blogs!

Fingers crossed it'll all be worth over the next few weeks...because that's what its all about really.

Having left it to gather dust for a few years after being let down badly the last time I tried to get it painted, I decided to learn from my previous experience and this time have my Lux painted by a fully qualified and experienced professional.

Today I took collection :)

Nice paint job, be careful with that rear glass, a 968 just had one replaced for £4500.

Not exactly what I did but, I did collect her from Porsche Centre Silverstone yesterday after some work.

She has a total brake overhaul, rebuilt calipers, lines, discs, pads et al.

Speedo was repaired, and a shiny dansk rear section fitted.

In summary, she has had all the required engine work done inc water pump, alternator and all the belts rollers and tensioners inc timing chain of course.

Gearbox overhaul.

And now brake rebuilt.

She's in a good place and drives like a dream.

Just the pesky torque tube bearing .......

Afternoon all...had a handling issue of late which turned out in part to be worn ARB bushes, I think the picture shows this to good effect, all of the bushes were worn.

Image

Decided to replace all bushes with Powerflex and also to replace the drop links with Porsche originals

Image

We also discovered that the drivers side ball joint had failed, I've ordered a ball joint repair kit and hopefully will get this done next weekend, it certainly needs to be fixed by the following weekend as I am exploring Wales starting bank holiday Monday...should be fun....

Pete

Fuel pump kept cutting out and it wasn't the DME, traced it to a broken wire in the connector attached to the transaxle support. I must have snagged it when I replaced the transmission mount. Luckily I found a spare Superseal 2 pin socket in my spares collection and spliced it into the wiring. Access is not great so fed it back through the grommet in the boot floor and soldered it in kneeling under the hatch.
Still researching the torsion bar swap for a 1" lower and slightly stiffer suspension.
Using my Iphone inclinometer, when the sills are perfectly horizontal, road to wheel arch distance is 26.5" on the front and 25.5" at the rear. Will check the chassis points when I find a suitable flat clean surface. Seems odd to me.
