New exhaust fitted tonight (blowing slightly after a run so hopefully tighten fixing tomorrow will sort that), new front tyres to match the rears and the smaller turbo steering wheel fitted.

Happy with a productive weekend and hopefully get some miles on her tomorrow and make the most of the new bits!!

Great day tinkering with those jobs you keep putting off. Loved it.... Just hold on to the thought, each tinker session just improves the car a little more.

As i dont drive the car that much and it needed some new tyres, i thought about the premium brands and decided it would be a waste of money, the will probably expire date wise long before the tread has gone, so i chose some cheaper branded tyres.

They Are GT-Radial Champiro HPY

I bought some Stainless Steel Valves to go in on the change thought they would look quite smart.

All fitted this morning

with the nice Stainless valves

First impressions after 20-30 miles is silence, good grip, no tramlining. so far very impressed, mind you the old tyres were 8-10 year old GSD3's

the total cost including fitting £290.00

I would like to suggest the opposite with regard to tyres. I agree that with most of us, the tyres will expire before they wear out, but I would like top performance when I do need to rely on them. For that reason, I prefer the solution of buying good part-worn premium brands. I bought my 4 Conti's for £150. Fitting though cost £50.

getting a set of the same make and model in the size was proving to be problematic, i have read around and these get good reviews and lots of folks are replacing Pirelli P7 with these for 50% of the cost.

they will do for me as the car is road use only and to be honest i would never use second hand tyres with history unknown and possible hidden damage, also a lot of them come from odd places and the "E" mark is not correct.

but as always you pays your money and takes your choice.

You have the same tyres as me, I bought them because they had a Conti style tread pattern and because they were a full silica tyre.

They seem ok, not too noisy and wear quite well plus they are not too bad in the wet (they were not the cause of my recent off  )

My 17" Pirelli winter tyres were part worn for £140 for all 4 fitted. The owner of the garage is a client of mine so picked out the best ones he had....

My turbo is in the body shop just now. Wing bottoms having some new metal put in and rest of sills under stone chip peeled back to attend to anything untoward before getting re-stonechipped, painted and filled with cavity wax.

Beware of what lies under your stone chip Jackois, especially if you have no idea...........

Good luck!

Stuart

Thanks, Stuart.

Better looked at now & sorted than letting the worry of what's happening under there niggle away, so to speak.
Getting the bits done that might let it down structurally first & once that's done start on the usual refurbishments, suspension & clutch to bring it up to top notch again...
