So - next questions Are the seat belt anchorages for inertia reel rear belts...
1) The same as the anchorages for the static belts on an early 944?
2) The same as the anchorages on a 924?
3) Is it as easy as removing the static belts and replacing with inertia reels? Does the trim need to change accordingly?

The mountings for three point inertia belts are unique to the later cars which came so-equipped. Earlier 944s and 924s have the similar mountings.
These early cars can support two point static and inertia belts and three point static belts - if you want three point inertia belts then youll need a bracket welding on (which should be available from Paul @ PHSportscars fopr very little, off an old body).

To add clarity - the only difference is the addition of an inertia reel mounting bracket in the load area of the car: the other three mountings are identical.

Never mind children! My labrador sits on the back "seats" in a harness clipped to a seatbelt. Only problem is the seat is a bit "dished" for a dog's bottom! But she survived 1100 miles over the weekend to Germany!

Ok having read a few this is important.

can anybody actually say what brand and model of child seat they have managed to get to fit in a 944, mine is a 944 s2, with three point inertia.

This is important as I have a 4.5yr old daughter and the better half will not let her in the car until We find the right child seat.

I found that if they're under 4' tall you can fit them in the sunroof bag and anchor them in the boot

I would also be interested in finding a car seat suitable for children as I have a seven year old.
The local OPC garage referred me to John Lewis but their website didn't help.

I'm tempted to use a booster seat and then install a head rest as her head is above the seat
which wouldn't be good in an accident.

I can do the humour because I've been there..... i.e. I'm not taking the pee, just having a bit of fun - I know how serious the subject is.

Good luck with the search anyway.

OPC sell a good child seat that fits the back of a 944! Try another OPC. I have a Mamas & Papas thats fine as well. 9mths to 2 years. After that your better off with the standard seat & a cut down booster. (Slimmed down & cut to shape.) You may need a harness clip to keep the belt tight. Leg room becomes a problem after 2. I also have a baby seat that goes across the back seats using both of them. It's 0-9mths travel carry cot by Jane. Just needs a bean bag to fill the dish of the rear seats so it sits square.
944's make great family cars. Try getting a pram in a Ford Ka or similar. Goes in the back of my '44 easy.

Fife, It will be Edinburgh for you. Or if you want to phone Glasgow, just ask for Danny as he is very helpful.
