I think that the rubber spoiler is a far more sensible design it can stand the odd knock and is not as vulnerable to damage. The reason I changed mine is I thought that the rubber spoiler looks like a bit of an afterthought and spoils the looks of the car, as if someone stuck it on on a friday afternoon without any thought. Having said that I have hedged my bets and kept the rubber spoiler. I suppose beauty is In the eye of the beholder.

Right.. so.. The best option for me then is to either buy a damaged hatch off of a 968 and fit the spoiler to the original hatch (which could be a pain in the ass) or fork out and buy a decent hatch and swap with the original?
Are the hatches a direct swap over then? you'll have to excuse my inexperience with all this I'm a bit of a newbie!!

Cheers

No. The last 944's had bridge spoilers. Many more. Like mine have been retro fitted. There are good ones in the breakers amongst the dross. Porshceapart will have a good one for a price. If your hatch is very good you could buy a new spoiler form OPC. Have it painted & fit it like Ron did. If your hatch is less than perfect you will need to refubish it too. In which case look for a replacement first. It's a big job I've been there. 924/944/951 & 968 hatchs all fit. But. You will need new pins & probably have to realign them. Not too bad really. You pays your money & makes your choice! :)

I'm a complete numpty when it comes to mechanical bits on cars but even I changed my hatch over in 20 minutes, most of that trying to squeeze my 6ft 3" frame into the back seats to get at the tailgate hinges on the back of the roof. Once in, 4 allen bolts, someone outside moving the hatch into position then tighten the bolts up, Job done, cup of tea and pat on the back. Most of the later 944/968 spoilers were satin black so will go with any colour car, colour coded was an extra option I think. Got mine on Ebay but try the breakers though if anything like Douglas Valley they wanted £350 quid  Try also the specialist garages like JMG or Strasse, they normally have loads of s/h parts in stock. Jon Mitchell is having a big clear out at the moment so you could try him. Look in the Parts for sale section for his recent post.
