The thing that annoys me is the blatant lies. Oval dash when it is not, S when its a Lux, Forged Fuch wheels when the car has Cookie Cutters, when the car lies about mileage, service history that does not exist etc

Its also common for the advert to be full of untruths. Amazing how many 944 are listed with Air bags and Cats. Air cons that don't exist etc...

I used to find selling cars and bike stressful and annoying but now I just enjoy telling the truth and seeing how people react. I suppose it would be different if I HAD to sell something but luckily never been in that position.

Recently sold my Suzuki SV, advertised on ebay with a buy it now price twice and everyone waited till the listing had ended until emailling with silly offers.

Had two people interested and told them both that to buy the bike they would need £XXXX, both agreed, so the first one arrives looks at the bike, its exactly as described then offers me £XXXX - £500 assuming I am desperate to sell. After half an hour of listening to him go and and on and on and on about new models coming out, how its cash in my hand now, the other person might not turn up, I told him to go away and stop wasting my time.

He wasted four hours travelling after agreeing a price.

Luckily the second guy arrived in the afternoon went through the bike with his mate looking at every detail and then simply said "great, exactly has described and handed me an envelope with £XXXX in it.

Two happy people :-)

In general I've had really good experiences with ebay - I've bought three cars, all sight unseen until collection (although I did ask questions/phone beforehand) and all were as described and great to own sold by decent people. I guess you have to weed through and choose the auctions you enter carefully to avoid the idiots who think an auction is a way of getting around common decency and integrity. If an auction has poor spelling and grammar, and no care in presentation, generally I reckon the thing advertised won't be up to scratch either. There's an old adage isn't there: if it all sounds too good to be true (I've never seen a car that doesn't have something, even minor, wrong with it) then it probably is...
