Ok to update i bought a replacement ECU today and put that in.
Still no start, still no spark. I give up. Next step is a can of petrol and a box of matches coz my patience has worn seriously thin with this car now!!!!!!!!!!!

The flywheel sensors are at the back of the engine block. Low down on the passenger side. There are two of them held in by allen bolts. You have to lean in and get down just behind the oil filler to be able to remove them.
Mine's had the same problem before and I think is suffering again.

Never heard of them failing that often, are you sure it isn't the connectors? Mine does this occasionally.

Rev counter bounce is when the engine is being turned over by the starter the needle should bounce off the stop. If it doesn't it is either sensors or ECU.

Well ive replaced the ECU with a good one, ive replaced the sensors with good ones and still no spark or bounce at the tach.
Im beginning to wonder if it might be dodgy wiring somewhere but ive checked the connectors and they are fine.

You probably will need help, it'll need a scope to test at the ECU & then meter out from the ecu to the coil.
Are the injectors firing?

Hang in there Shaun!
Sorry the ecu didn't sort it for you. Make sure you check all the earths and the wiring that fires the coil. Can't remember which pin it is from the ecu but I'll try and find out mate.

Not sure if it is the sensors failing on mine. It hasn't started when tried for the last four weeks. Took the sensors out, cleaned them and started first time last night. Now to look at some other problems!

Car is back alive. It appears that the old alarm system was the culprit. Its never been in use since i had the car but as soon as the wiring was removed where it went into the coil wiring the car fired up again.
A simple fix but sometimes you cant see the wood for the trees or at least i cant!!!! :D :D

That is one of the standard isolation circuits for an immobiliser. On a well fitted one then finding the wiring & the problem can be difficult, especially if it is intermittent.

Well, I am glad that it is sorted. If the installer has gone to the effort of hiding it, seldom is it that they fail IME.
