1983 and 1985 cars were very different, so I think that this is highly unlikely. Porsche used to re-VIN cars (one of the elusive M-option numbers, which exactly escapes me for the time being), in order to prevent thisfrom happening en-masse.

Cars built in August are at the beginning of the production year so a car built in August '85 is an '86 MY car.

The beginning of the production year is in September, as already stated. Production did sometimes start earlier, but that was the exception rather than the rule.

sorry to confuse, but the dates were meant as an example, back in the 80's car were stored at compounds for months if not years

I realised what you meant and that certainly did happen. Porsche endeavoured to ensure that it didnt happen with their products though.
