944 REAR SILL CORROSION

they even went to the trouble of mixing cut sections of metal to mix with filler, to pass the magnet test by potential buyers and mot testers :shock:

Porsche had improved things by the 968. I have never heard of one with the rear sill problem. I found those sills great protection against stone chips too.

I think it is only a matter of time. It wasn't that long ago that 944s weren't supposed to rust.

All 944's are galvanised. That lasts 10 years. Then the steel is pretty thick & good quality. But the 968 will rust like anything else. Mines 22 years. Not bad when you see how many modern cars rot after 5!

This is the back of the panel (under the wheel arch), quite a mud trap.
