Just looked out the invoice for mine when it was new. As it was a 'run-out' car to make way for the 968 the previous (and only other) owner got a huge discount, and a choice of colour. He told me that they wouldn't let him have a choice of colour so he walked out, and a few days later they called him with the OK.

£28639.36 including a full tank of petrol and 12 months road tax. He bought it on 30 July 1991, with an 'early August' delivery date.

It came from Dutton-Forshaw in St John's Wood, London.

All this info is of no real use but is nice to have to show the car's history.

Hey! that was a good discount wasnt it? You have to appreciate the quality of build of our cars and realise that although they were really expensive at the time, a lot of them are still around and running reliably unlike a lot of the 944 s contemporaries! :)

I agree about the daft cover for the split rear seats. Mine was in shreds when I got the car. So my other half made me a new cover from black leatheret using all the old filltings etc.

The runout models came with split rear seats as did the Turbo S, The "daft" nylon luggage cover that clips on to the tailgate cost a fortune new, and are expensive and hard to find seconhand
