Data from the testing not that useful, as my friend's equipment is clearly defective, or our testing method was $hite! Anyway the leak down test gave 10-12% on all cylinders, with any audible leakage predominantly on the inlet side, with nothing much evident from the oil filler or the exhaust. The compression test was 35-40psi (!) with No.4 (the one with the crusty carbon deposits on the electrode) the lowest.
Given the car goes really well it is clear the absolute numbers are useless, and we repeated them several times.
I'm going to get a local Porsche garage to recheck the LD/comp test and if they concur, to go ahead and replace the valve seals. Any contrary views?
