Struts now all fitted and what a transformation

Previously my car had a judder upon applying light application of the brakes - NOW NOTHING !
(I feel this was caused by excessive movement at the top of the casing where the strut exits the casing)

Slightly harsh and a bit clunky over rough road surfaces - NOW NOTHING !

Intermittent thud from O/S/R - NOW NOTHING !

Virtually all body roll has gone and the car feels very sure footed without any harsh or excessively hard ride quality

Bilsteins - Plug and Play or Fit and Forget ??

Too right they are !

I have checked the camber and I need a small adjustment on both sides to obtain 0' +/- 20' 1990 on S2 models

The other parts can wait their turn to be "pretty'd up" as I got a trip to Dinslaken to enjoy first :bounce:

Enjoy the Billies - they transformed my S2, without any of the harshness I have experienced in other peoples Spax and Koni fitted cars. Of course its all down to personal preference, all three will improve handling massively over standard :-)

Just some useful info for anyone considering fitting B6's: the strong pound against the euro is very much in our favour at the moment. Over here a full set of billies will set you back north of £500, but if you buy direct from Germany you can get them much, much cheaper. I've just bought a set of late type dampers and they've cost around £355 all in! Ordered on Tuesday and they turned up yesterday :)

I bought mine from this place:
http://www.auto-trend.net/auto/

I could do with a strut top tool, is there any chance you could have some more made?

I'd be very interested in prices for these as well - I'll send a PM.

Thanks,

Oli.

I have a set of 924S/ Early 944 front struts, as well as a set of 944S2 ones available.

Would you be able to convert these?

Kind regards,

Bert

Did anyone take up the offer to do the strut conversion?

Cheers,
Bryan

I mailed the OP ages ago, asking to buy the sleeves. If he didn't want to manufacture them, I asked for the specs to get them cut elsewhere. He never bothered responding, after all the bravado posts!

If anybody know the specs for the weld on sleeve, please let us all know. I could do this myself (and will have to no doubt), but it would mean leaving the car jacked up for a few days. If I had the sleeves cut, I'm sure it's less than a days work.

If nobody comes back with the sleeve spec, I'll post it when I do mine.

This might be it. About 1/4 way down the page. Afraid I don't speak German though, so can't be certain : http://www.sportwagenparts.de/shop_content.php?coID=47

Chaps I have to chime in to say that I think you're over complicating this, all you need is a pair of mk1/mk2 golf or 924 struts with a screw cap to butcher and you're mustard.

Here's my efforts using a pair of Koni m474 struts hacked for b6's:
