Am I right in thinking that the radiator on the left fits and the radiator on the right looks better but doesn't fit? I will save the picture and notarise it ready for when I buy one.

Correct. The one on the left slots up into the bodywork. The rubber mounts slot into the ally angles on the top corners. The one on the right is too tall and wide to slot up into the bodywork. The rad will sit about 10mm too low so the lower retaining bar for the rad will not bolt up. There's no way the one on the right will work without cutting the rad or bodywork. Whoever at winner racing decided on the changes didn't understand the cars space restriction at the corners. I think they've had a few complaints as they were too quick in responding and agreeing to a replacement.

Just to drag this up again, but has anyone ordered on of these recently? Did it fit ok?

In all the pictures of them from various sellers it always looks like the port isn't machined out for the fan switch, but I take it they come ready to screw in a switch?

Those that have had one for a while any issues? I could do with a new rad for my 951 which I'm converting to a race car so I don't want to take chances on such a crutial part!

Thanks!

As pricey as they are I'd simply order a stock Porsche one from ECP. They are the same as what is delivered to Porsche even down to the supplier it seems. ECP do cheat however and only sell one variant ; the 951 item.

Alloy radiators IME seem to be hit and miss. My 3 year old Direnza rad in my RST seems to have a leak somewhere at the bottom. The N/S tie bar mount is always wet! Of course the difference in price between a Direnze and a ProAlloy/Pace item is almost double.... But it was what came with the car.

If it lasted 20 years....

Thanks Chas, I did have that thought in the back of my mind. My original rad has lasted 30 years and is only showing so fairly minor signs of weepage, not bad really! I'll have a word with my local ECP regarding a URO one then.

Just to update this I took a punt on an NRF radiator from Mister Auto based in Lyon, France for around £195 and low and behold it's turned out to be the fabled Porsche OEM LR rad with part numbers ground off. Well happy!!! :D

they all seem to be LRO with the numbers ground off, for £195 dam bargain.

got mine direct from NRF last year (968 Rad) £220 including post arrived next day and just the same LRO numbers ground off.

You guys make me feel bitter for paying £180 for a radiator from ECP back in 2010, with haggling on top!

OTOH, I did end up changing almost every hose under the bonnet; EMC and I were convinced the cooling issues were the reasons for my S2 went through 2 engines in its life, the second one not even lasting a few years of gentle mileage.

I went to my local ECP first and whilst they've been helpful in the past, this time they didn't want to know!! but they seem to have had some staffing changes recently...

I agree on the hoses: I've done most of mine now but there's a few more to weed out when I change the rad. The expansion tank and aux pump are also on my hit list. The damage a burst hose can cause doesn't bear thinking about!!!
