Ah, good to know, thanks Jim.

More and more the 2.5 looks the way to go (for a 1st time 944 owner at least 8) )

I will search, but just in-case anyone is on right now who could answer - do you know of any good buyers guide i could read?

Cheers

Mark.

Do a google for Rick Cannells site he has manuals & articles up, also I think there is one on Hartech's site.

911 & Porsche World issue for October 2006 included a 944 buyers guide. May be of help in your search.

The recent article was an owners guide.

She's a 1983 2.5 Lux, 120K with 1 years MOT and 9 months tax, cambelt done in the summer :)

First track day with her is this Saturday :)

Big thanks to this site as the articles on here really helped when viewing and researching the 944 - much appreciated 8)

Looks good, even the colour & I don't do green. Be worth doing a quick plug check if you can, a levels check on engine & gearbox.

Looks very nice.

If you're going to track it will you be stripping the interior out? If you are I may be interested in a few parts for mine if they're the same colour.

I would definately change the brake fluid and have a new set of pads standing by also.

Be a shame to abandon a trackday after the first session because the old fluid boiled or the pads were down to a few mm. New pads will be circa £30-40

Yup, bleeding the brakes tonight ahead of the weekend, its got brand new pads on the front so will check out the rears tonight, will also put a new air filter in and check the sparks and oil.

Noticed she is locking the rears under heavy braking, have a feeling the handbrake might be sticking to the disc a little so will see if we can slacken that off a little tonight also.

Saying that, the tyres have plenty tread but they look a little old (and cheap) so will take a good look at those as well.

Got any links to where i can get rear pads just in case i need some in a hurry?

Think we will keep the interior for now Rob as it is one of the best bits about the car, the driver seat has no rips or tears in it!! :D

Oh well it was worth a shot, my drivers seat has seen better days and somebody's thrown my speaker grilles away *shakes fist*

For standard pads call Bert at http://www.partsforporsche.co.uk

The handbrake is a seperate system to the pads and disk at the rear. It works via shoes 'inside' the rear hub of the disk

This unusual on a 944,if anything it's a bit front biased. It could be tyres as you say or tyre pressures. Or someone could have put hugely different pad makes front & back?

Yes, if the tyres or their pressures arent the cause, then Id wonder whether about the front brakes efficiency.

Some how missed this. Car looks good. I'd put goodrich brake pipes (or similar) high on the list. Made a big improvement to mine. I just use unipart pads in mine. They work well. Are cheap & there not hard on the discs like some. (All pads now have to be within 5% of standard by law so why pay for the name.) Should stand on its nose so somthing not right if the backs locking first.

Took the wheels off last night to take a look - turns out it has got stainless brake hoses and front pads are brand new (rears have plenty of life left in them as well) - which was a nice surprise :)

They guy we bought her from had it sitting for a while so i'm hoping this is the cause of the brakes beign a little 'snatchy' - will give her a good blat and see if that makes any difference :)

I asked a question about brake fluid here: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2055

IS DOT 4 ok to use (said DOT 3 only on the filler cap)

Cheers

Mark :)
