Hurray! My new (second hand but working) wiper motor is here ready to go on. Needed a proper clean up first though

Some real cleaning needed on the bulkhead and around the heater matrix and motor housing....

Looking much better after an hour is so with the spade, Hoover and gunk

Just need to attach the motor to the wiper armature and reassembly should be the reverse of what I've undone... apparently

That's right, I left the base of the fan unit in situ - mainly because it was well and truly glued down!

I've put things back together now but I had to make sure the orientation of the gear and mechanism was right so I used the 968 for reference.

Checked it all worked before putting it in :)

As the lower half of the fan unit was still in place I had to slide the wiper mech into place

Image

Then it was just a case of put all the bits back in making sure the vacuum lines were all in place and no cables were trapped anywhere....

Yes, it looks like it does on the 968 albeit a bit cleaner :D

I just need to mend the rain cover and clean up the surface rust on the plate under the windscreen to then fit the rain cover and seal it in and I can finally go out in the rain :D

Finally finished off the wiper refurb and put everything back together but I couldn't leave this:

or this....

Image

or this... taking care not to break anything as this is the connection to the in-screen antenna for the radio....

Image

so I masked things up and got to work.... looks so much better afterwards :D

Whilst the paint was out, I couldn't resist sorting out the filter covers as well that sit on the sides of the fan housing....

Image

Needed to remember to include these two little plastic fillers before fitting the flimsy (but repaired) plastic cover

Image

Plastic cover on and forgot to take a photo of the finished article but it looked good and the wipers actually work now :D

Did a bit of cleaning in the engine bay whilst I had a spare half an hour whilst paint dried.... not pristine but a massive improvement none the less:
