you drill off your old one from the backing plate and cut the plug off

then one of these on the plate you just need a centre punch to fix it and re-solder the plug back on.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HALL-PICK-UP-SENSOR-HKZ101-HKZ101E-HKZ101S-HKZ121-VW-AUDI-SEAT-/151232379521?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item233626fa81

works perfectly

works on 944S2 968 928 replacement for HKZ101 Hall Effect Sensor

Thanks.

Will buy this and modify the old sensor I have.

Beginning to think there was nothing wrong with it in the first place though!

easy to test one

tools needed

A DVM
A long metal pin

keep it all plugged in

Pin 1 +5v
Pin 3 Should bell out to ground anywhere on the car.

Pin 2 should show about 1v AC with the engine running

I would then bell the wires back to the ECU especially PIN 2 as that is the signal line for the pulse to the ECU

Maybe I enjoy splashing my cash but I am wary of cheap sensor, especially with the troubles they have given me recently in addition to over the previous years (to a lesser degree).

With the former the problem has become so bad (the gauge overreads with warm water over halfway in that car) I will be going to a capillary item (it seems at least for the other car good sensors are not available (which are around £10 each etc.).

I've just had word from my man that he is "tweaking" the S2...

But, it's definitely the head gasket on the 968. Bugger.

Siemens don't make the HKZ101 range of hall sensors anymore so even the new ones you can buy for £120 have the China copies on them

or they are old stock.

got nothing to do with splashing the cash, if you can effect a good repair for £20 and if that was not the problem its not so painful.

also if your interested you can buy an Audi A3 one from UK diesel parts for £7.99 and the sensor is the same just a bit more fun swapping it over.

I'd take a good look at the cams while it's apart too.

Yes!

Yes!

Yes!

The 944 is fixed. Turns out it was the throttle body. They replaced the original one with one I sourced from a breaker, along with the matching AFM and it's now an absolute joy to drive!

As a result, I want to keep the S2 and sell the 968 now! lol

One down... one to go. 8)

I'm not sure to be honest. I need to get it fixed and painted first before I could let it go without any qualms (if you know what I mean). It was only a knee jerk reaction to it letting go on me...!

I'd be taking the 968 head off anyway. Weigh that up if you're serious about selling it before spending out getting it fixed.

Well... PM a serious offer if you're really interested in it and we'll go from there.
