Don't start, washed it today and it was filthy got a few more chips from the new work

I'm thinking off getting the intake pipe powered coated black

But I'm pretty happy with it now it's got black boots and the spoilers, had a bloke park his car up just to have a look and chat about it, turns out he a mechanic from London, was really impressed
impressed

Don't think I could live with newly painted in black again

Tons been over the logs and there's 1 bar by 3k with simpler spool up as 26/8

So it would seem that this turbo will allow as much boost as required, fitting a 5 bar map sensor in case off over boost, the ecu is ready for it

Question is how much boost can I run?

Car is road car won't be driven as hard as a track car so should get plenty of time for cooling,

Currently everything is touchable withing 5 mind off pulling over incursions intake mainfold

Compering logs on 26/8 kkk

5th gear pull

Putting foot down at 0.0 bar 2150 rpm a\f 12.6 intake temp off 12 deg

0.8 bar 2850 rpm a/F 11.6 intake temp 13deg

1 bar 2950 a/f 11.3 intake temp 14deg

1.2 bar 3050 intake temps 15 deg

1.3 bar 3100 intake temps 16

So the spool time is at 1 bar is closer, but the 26/8 builds boost faster 0.1 bar every 50 rpm increase off 1 deg

this must be due to the smaller sized compressor wheel. Also explain why the kick in the back feels less in gtx as it makes 1bar at a simmler rpm but takes longer to increase each 0.1 bar, 1.3 is 3400. however it wont drop off like 26/8 or heat up as much but that could be due 2 3" exhaust

on off boost build when in the power band is quicker in 26/8 dispite been a journal bearing, but remember that it's a smaller wheel. Gtx 3071 can flow 57lb per min which is larger then most hybrid offerings

Lr 61 is 61lb

Which higher then any hybrid

but gtx will spool to 1 bar around 400 rpm earlyer then 26/8 in 3rd unless thats 2nd gear im looking at.

i didnt dyno tbe 26/8 but will dyno tbe gtx be nice if it is flowing more air at 1bar and making more power

Hi t3rra,
What is your target for this turbo?

Also what is your limit with the internals you have?
Do you have forged rods?

Robert

Interesting you mention the LR 61, I have a new 61-10 that I was saving until I build a 3.0 engine but I'm tempted to fit it with a MAF kit on the 2.5, that and a 3" discharge/downpipe would determine whether I go to 3.0 sooner or later.

Iv got forged in a box in the basement. Belive there cast in the engine at the moment.

My target was 380/400 as I'm on stock clutch with 123k on it however it would be nice to push the boost pass the norm and run 23/25 psi max guess that will see 450/80 hp. As it a road car won't be on boost like a track car was hoping it make it'd slightly safe as the heat won't build and build. ?

There's always a larger hot side 0.82 which may give more power without more boost but will add to lag, how much off each iv have no idea

Iv done a 60/100 filmed on camera phone then played back in slow motion to work out the time. 5 secs in 3rd. Which puts power to be around 380/400hp on 20psi not sure what extra 1psi would make 15 hp?

This turbo will flow 850cfm at 1bar so I believe from the net. LR 61 will flow 900 and 48 750

61 would prob spool at 4000?

Not sure, I'd like to make around 400 torques using 16-18lbs boost and to spool up by 3k on a 3.0. I have a set of new Carrillo's to go in too.

Would the extra 1/2 ltr spool up that much more? Wonder what fuel consumption becomes with a 3ltr turbo. Think if I was going 3ltr it would have to be 16v

I've never driven a 3.0 turbo but apparently it does make quite a difference. The 2.7 head has bigger inlet valves/ports too.

T3rra,
I'm looking at a number of turbo options and was wondering if you could tell me what intake temps you see at 1.4BAR past 6500rpm if you rev that far.
If not what the highest you see?

Probably better Terry, even on an otherwise 'standard' car, simply because they drive so badly off-boost due to lag and lack of torque. With the extra capacity it should drive easier and with far less pedal. Mine is awful around the city, seeing about 16mpg at best.

Iv not recorded much logs past 6500 my limiter is 6700 and I'm changing well in to power at 6th not much point to strain things.

Iv did mention some in take temps earlier on which would be lower with 0.82. Think the highest iv seen been around 22/24 degs seem to cool down quicker with full 3" exhaust
Is there a set goal you have in mind? It took me months to choose my turbo.

3076 will spool 3400 make more power at less boost then mine 400 run is 8mph later so you won't need to drop gears in a road car like you would with 3800/4000 spool

But would mean boost would be around 80 in 5th I can over take from 40 on country roads in 4th and be at 80 by the time iv passed

Well a little update. Took car to tom for a final map. Set ecu boost cut 1.6 . Using his dunno we was able to do many pulls in 4th to 140mph.

Iv increased the duty cycle on the apexi so I can get 1.5 bar off boost by 3.2 rpm in 5th.

Took a lot off fine felting to get the wheels to stop slipping.

So I took it to kap a maha dyno near me, had trouble will slip there as well. 7 attempts only got one a half pulls. Running off wastegate spring only I was able to make 363hp/318lbft

An attempt to run 1.5 mentioned slip at 3200 which would probably be around 1.3 bar. Made 346 lb ft at 3200 and 218 hp

So more lb ft and same power as 220 car by the same time it would be coming on to boost.

So u can have your cake and eat it
