It is only worth keeping the cars original if that is what you want to do...they have no real value (in £££s) these days, so making a hybrid from the two that you have is totally down to personal preference. However, there is (as suggested by all the posts), quite a bit of work involved in any of the swaps you have suggested. If the square dash interior is growing on you, and you want to repair the oval dash body, I think you have almost got your answer?..Keep them original, I am certain you can find a really good interior for the '84 as all the 924 interiors will fit as well, and there are still lots of those around with tidy(ish) interiors. All the seats (924 and late 944) will fit and even front seats from other Porsche models will also fit (911 and Boxster, etc.). Getting a pair of good early door cards can be a problem - as water (over the years) can damage the bottom edge, but it is possible to repair these especially if they are the vinyl ones rather than cloth.

I think you will end up with two projects to do!  - all the best!

I had completely overlooked a 924 interior, a bit dumb of me really. The DME is a good and cheap point to start I believe.

The interior of my square dash isn't a nice place to be either and I've looked into a spruce up myself, they can be tidied up for reasonable costs.

The dash you can recover, you need to be a bit brave and chop the cracks in to a v shape with a scalpel, then fill with a flexi filler. You can buy rolls of self adhesive leatherette or the soft carbon cloth (not the shiny stuff). I got as far as testing some patches for this to see if the filled cracks would show through the self adhesive material and they don't. The leatherette isn't a perfect match but with a heat gun and a bit of patience for £20 you're crack free.

If your seat swabs are still good there's a seller on eBay selling fitted covers for the seats based in Switzerland if I remember, they run out at £230 for a full set, again they're leatherette but with breakers charging that and more for tatty seats it's an option.

The only cracks are in the centre bit by the screen heater outlet, the carpets are good too. It actually only needs front seats and door cards plus the door internals rebuilding.

Ok, I have made a choice and am going to stick with this style interior and bring it up to scratch. Not sure what to do with seats as getting them re-stitched is an option as some of the prices asked on Ebay for wrecked Porsche seats are staggering. I have a great electric set in full black leather( like new) from the later car that I would appreciate a valuation on if anybody could help, it is a complete interior even the headlining looks new and the dash is amazing, the clock is as you would expect trout!!

Good that you have made a decision here and are going to fix up the '84s interior. Do you have photos of both cars to post so we can assess condition, work involved and help advise? I assume you are going to keep the later car intact too and eventually get around to welding the bodywork? Try to keep this complete and hold onto the good interior as when you get this car back on the road you will enjoy having such a nice place to sit and drive in.

Late last year I had a set of superb black pinstripes that went on eBay for £114, I now wish I had held onto them as they would be worth more now! Someone got a bargain  Prices today are a bit 'high'!

Your leather set sounds awesome, don't worry about a valuation - just hold onto it...you could always fit these seats into the early car as a temporary swap just to keep comfortable, it only takes an hour or so to swap it all around. can be heavy work though..

Then, when a decent set comes along at the right price, or you get the others repaired, simply swap them back again - Food for thought?

The power should go into the garage and new 16x8 workshop (I am finishing today) on Friday, I should then be able to make a start. I will post some pictures as I will be taking plenty as it comes apart to aid with re-assembly. I will be more than happy to take any advice given as this will be my first renovation/restoration. A big thanks for all the advice given so far.
