Youd be surprised where you can get to over a long weekend! Ive driven from Calais through Belgium to Stuttgart on Friday. From Stuttgart down through Switzerland and into Northern Italy on Saturday. From Turin-ish to Dijon on Sunday and from Dijon back to Calais on Monday morning. The Nordschleife and Spa-Francochamps circuits are both within an easy detour of the first leg too...

Simon

Simon you are describing my usual summer vacation drive - however it has been in all sorts of moderns from Impreza Sti through Jaguar / Saab / Mercedes etc. However in the first week of September we took my wifes Mini Cooper S which was a real scream!

Next time it will definately be in the 944

jon

It was actually the 2007 Scumball3000 Jon! In my avatar you can see us meeting Stuttgarts finest - they werent happy to meet us.

The car was superb and didnt miss a beat, probably turning in well over 30mpg over the whole trip. Equal that in an Impreza! :o)

I can only hope that Jon Mitchell's suggested road trip is half as much fun as this! See the link next to my 924 in my sig:

Sounds like a great trip Jon, another box ticked :)

We covered 1000's of miles in Europe when we had the '44 Cab. :) Happy days and the 44 always had people waving as we tootled along.

I love driving in Europe, much more fun than driving over here. I can't wait to go back :bounce:

Perhaps without incurring the faff of organised trips (lovely as they unquestionably are), we could maintain a thread where 944 owners who are making continental trips could post some broad specifics and increase the opportunity for a bit of a high-speed waving exercise in "forn parts"?

I'm trying to bully/coerce/inspire/trick Broady_6 into a 944 Euroforay to some place where we can drive at speeds unthinkable on UK roads (ahem), and with even more dramatic scenery than North Lincolnshire (if you can imagine such a thing, no? Me neither). If we manage to get our act together I'd be happy to post a rough itinerary and wave at any other Porsches en route... it's *always* fun to do the waving thing!

yes I have now read it and ive always tended to drive south from the tunnel so I like the sound of 4 days heading east a bit. Leave on a weds night get back on a monday?

I never took the 944S across the Channel, but last year I took the 911 to Classic Le Mans in convoy with tipec, my first foreign driving trip and the car never missed a beat. On the way back I was solo, and did just over 500 miles in one stint (apart from the Eurotunnel bit) with my then 11 year old son as navigator, thoroughly enjoyed the trip and I think this is when I eventually got the 911 thing (those of you that know me know that I was having problems getting to grips with the 911) and would recommend CLM to anyone
