Yes, TWR Turbo cup!

One of the cars my dad was involved with and I helped with as an apprentice at the end of the 80's when TWR wanted to get out of Jaguar racing (le mans and touring car with silk cut), I managed to track it down again a couple of years ago after Tom Walkinshaw of TWR passed away.. He had it in road legal form after they decided not to race in the cup and used to carry his TWR1 registration. Pretty sorry state, but it will be coming back to its former glory.

I shall post up pictures as it gets restored, should be an interesting read for someone.

Who knows when... also need to repaint the 911 turbo, Turbo charge the Boxster, finish building the 968 Turbo engine, get cracking with the 964 speedster turbo, restore my 931, and get loads of my other cars sold (painful, but part of my therapy) and get the TWR turbo cup restored... That one will be a priority though!

Ive followed the prices over the last 4 or 5 years since buying my S2 ( paid 6k for it with 78k on.the clock back in 2007 )

I think they bottomed out a couple of years ago but now seem to have crept back up.

Compare it to the boxster which at the time I bought my S2 were fetching £10K minimum, now a boxster can be had for 3 - 4k.

I'm glad I chose the S2 even if it's been a pain in the rear at times, just like good looking women, they can be high maintenance at times.

I'll get a Ford XR3i next time around ( I'm talking about women now !! )

Paul

Hi...just thought I would make a comment..a-hem but how can good looking women be high maintenance? because they need to get exercise buy make up/exfoliation cream and hair products?....? and do 'women' actually like Ford XR3i's?...just wondering, as I'm a woman and I don't particularly like them. Just trying to figure out the minds of guys here!

I may be wrong, but I think he means it like this...

Expensive women - Exotic cars

Shoes £250+ - Waterpump £300+
Channel Makeup odds and ends £100+ - Windscreen £800+
Dinner at an expensive restaurant £300+ - Engine Oil £45 a gallon
Does not try as hard, used to men doing all the effort - Don't want to thrash it too hard in case you bend it

Cheaper women - XR3i

Shoes £50 - Waterpump £15
Boots Makeup odds and ends £10 - Windscreen £250
Bag of chips £1.50 - Engine oil supermarket special £10
Grateful and tries hard - Throw it into a corner, if it all goes wrong its only an XR3i

I think I will get an XR3i next myself... :D

High maintenance- if you want it to look nice it wont be cheap.
Low maintenance - who cares what it looks like it goes ok.

I think I've set a new benchmark...medium maintenance!

What I definitley don't need though, is someone inviting me to help with my car, then inviting me for some supposed 'fun', then telling me he lives with a girlfriend and me subsequently getting ranting voicemails telling me that I'm going to be in big trouble if I don't leave her boyfriend alone! and that was someone from this forum believe it or not. No names mentioned as I do not want to be accused of slander. Oh fun fun fun! :banghead:

Ohh this sounds interesting!

Someone on here is a very very very bad boy.

Also, I think they have one of those temperamental models, possibly a TVR or an Alfa back home.

An XR3i would never be annoyed if you drove, or thought about driving, something else. An exotic model would though, only because it would think it was missing out on some potential maintenance.

Time for one of my dealy departed dads old sayings (which used to get him a beating from mum)

"Women and cars are very much the same....
You can get a hardly used one, but in time it will be a shed like the rest and will cost a fortune to get
You can get a well used one, and know it will not get much worse and is low maintenance
You can rent one, its never yours, but for some people it might work out as the best route
Or you can just go through life borrowing someone elses, you never know what you are getting into, but you don't have to pay to maintain it."

My poor dad got lots of beatings from mum for saying this kind of thing..
