OK so Im not happy with the bodge job I did. Rang OPC Sheffield again and asked them to check the price.Still £42.00 each! Hmmm,so I asked him about the same item for the 968.£14.14 each just as 911 perv said above.So whats the difference ? Apparently they are the same or at least they are as far as the OPC bloke knows because they look exactly the same on PET.Anyway Ive ordered a couple so I can do the job properly and also ordered the metal plates with the bolts attached(£3 odd each).If they had directed me towards the 968 type in the first place my neighbours wouldnt have heard so much bad language coming from my garage! Oh well!

The one on the Left is the 968 version on the Right is the later 944 version ...there is an early version also so I beleive

The one on the right is like the S/H ones I got and also like the ones Porscheshop show as the later model.They are not really a good fit,too easy for water to get past.The one on the left is more like my old ones except the hole on mine is round not oblong like those.The OPC PET diagram shows a round hole so that is what I am expecting to get but who knows? It ll be towards the end of the week before they come so I ll let you know.As to your previous comment about why people dont post more pics on here,well, I tried a few years ago but never mastered the black art Too difficult

what is not easy is fitting these seals, crap design and a pain to fit there is no gasket between the latch and the body so water seems to run through the seal and over the latch.......I've even resorted the fitting the 968 pins and outer seal

fitted mine today took about 1 minute ......cut about 10mm of the seal lugs (968 version) covered it it lithium grease..popped straight in perfect

bad news is the one I took out the packet to photograph I've gone and lost it

Well in the end Porsche could only get the RH side seal and it turned out that was the wrong kind anyway(u shaped cut-out ) .So I managed to get some originals with the hole in the middle off E-bay,not brilliant condition but usable.I bought the metal plates with captive bolts from Porsche(delivered free next day ) and used some silicone grease to help the seals into their new home,replaced the tailgate seal and cleaned up before putting on a bit of polish.Job done at last!

I have some fantastic condition used 944 ones sitting here, if anyone needs them?

Now you tell me! Which kind do you have?I would still buy some with the round hole in the middle.

I've been trying to track down these more reasonably priced 968 parts as well, but I can't find the part number. I've even tried looking at the 968 parts catalogue and it gives a 944 number.
I've tried my local porsche dealer as well on the phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I can't wait to have a watertight car!

That's what I thought. I just called a really knowledgeable guy at porsche and he says there are the two different designs and gave me a quote on both, inc vat both were around the £40 mark.

I can't find these £10 parts anywhere, any suggestions where to look? I don't fancy spending another £80 on some tiny rubber parts!
