After a morning in the garage I always use yesterday for timing, mixture and tracking adjustment (plus a good look underneath whilst it was up on the ramp) I've basically used it as much as possible today with the sunroof off and loving the chance to use it more.

One problem with getting the mixture set which was to high before is the cold start problem now shows itself in full force so a wur repair/replace is on the horizon.

Mot next month is my new focus and if I can finally get the rear hub nut off to loosen the brake adjuster I'm confident it will be OK. Now to find a 3/4" ratchet and breaker bar I can use!

Well..booked in for an MOT tomorrow (Sat), so did a few little pre-MOT things such as actually fitting those poly bushes for the front anti-roll bar drop links...easy job I thought. Not... :( . The worn rubber ones came off easy, the new hard plastic ones are a real pain to fit. However, it's all done now so it shouldn't fail on that at least. Checked the plugs, as I had a tough time with the emissions last year. Everything looked good, no fouling, good clean burn, hardly needed a wire brush either. So, I reckon the mixture is set fine, but we shall see. Fixed the stupid fragile handbrake switch, that is also a pain to work on unless you remove the seat! :? Went round and checked all the other stuff..lights, horn, tyres, seat belts, washer, wipers, hazard switch, you know all the usual stuff, it all seems OK, so here's hoping!

Gave it a good clean..Only thing it might have a fail on that I can see is a rear tyre..loads of tread but it is starting to crack a little. I will get advice on that even if it passes. Fingers are crossed. :D

Today I fitted a GRP bonnet. The panel fit is utterly appalling, even after spending 90 minutes getting it as good as I could by shimming it on one hinge bracket.

It's 8.6 kilos lighter than the steel one though (i weighed them!), and that's what I bought it for, it's a track day car, not a show car.

I feel your pain...good luck for the MOT tomorrow. I have to go through the pain of fitting poly bushes tomorrow plus brake hoses all round, ready for an MOT date on Tuesday. Funny, i also cleaned the car in the hope that it will soften up the tester

I finally fitted the D90's I bought a year ago and gave the car a really good clean. Of course it is also easier to do these things on a gorgeous day!

The old ones were 17" twist alloys. I still like them, but wanted to try the 16's. These are also very clean after a refurb.

Fitted anti squeal shims to the rear pads, horrible screaming without and put a big order in with Rennbay and Only 944 to sort out rattling rear hatch gave her a damn good thrashing to bed the brakes. Booked in for sills thought I'd better get the genuine ones before they go out of production again. I'll post some pics when the old ones are cut off.

I hate those wheel! My Turbo has a set fitted. Unfortunately the original forged Fuchs manufactured wheels (Gullydeckels) didn't come with it. :(

Technically yesterday...my 944S 'scraped' through the MOT on emissions, Similar tale to last year, C02 too high, fuel/air ratio incorrect at idle speeds. At anything else the ratio is fine, so that's why I didn't have fouled plugs, etc. But at 900/1000 RPM it was wrong. But the tester really wanted my car to pass (the feeling was mutual!), so he fiddled with the AFM adjustment until we got a 'sweet-spot' for a while and ran the test again. So, I have a ticket to drive for this year. Now, I might be wrong here, but the prime suspect in this issue surely has to be the AFM itself? I have a spare with less miles on it, so I think I will service and clean that up and swap them over and get it on the analyser again at some point soon. Any other likely suspects??.

I don't think I have any air leaks or vacuum leaks, but the throttle shaft o rings might need replacing..However, the mixture was too rich, so any unmetered air coming in there would surely make it leaner?

General comments on the car centred around how boring the test was! Everything has been replaced, serviced, cleaned, so nothing for them to get interested in.. However, I really need to get underneath to shine it all up again.

Rear tyre is fine for this year, so I will keep an eye on it and an advisory for a pin-hole in front wishbone ball-joint gator, basically well pleased.. :D :D :D

Drove to Museum of Power in Langford, Essex with my 2.5yr old daughter.

There was a clean 2.5 Lux in display, in white same as mine.

Could well be your ICV especially if it's fine on throttle. If it's gummed up it won't be flowing enough air hence being too rich at idle. I have this issue just now and unfortunately I have no idle mixture adjustment on my scivision MAF so can't do that. The ICV is also a bugger to remove so I attacked it with brake cleaner through the inlet hose and it has improved the situation although still idling a tad rich but not as bad as it was. Will need to remove it and clean it properly at some point but it's fine for the time being.

Stuart

Replaced the front brake hoses. Stripped, cleaned and rebuilt the front callipers and bled the brakes....amazing how much better they work now!
