Stripped the inside bare other than the dashboard to make sure there's no signs of surface rust starting anywhere, all good other than a small bit one end of the battery tray so I'll clean that back and get some Hydrate 80 on that tomorrow. Degreased all the interior metal surfaces, cans of Dynax S-50 on standby for tomorrow to flood both sills and Dynax clear for the floor pan and boot area.

Found loads of small while I'm there I might as well do em jobs as you do but the carpets have gone away to be cleaned so I've got a bit of time to play with.

Not sure if the right place, stripped out an oval dash from a 944S2 in Fife (Ian 07970 398491) to go in my 944S, some parts were removed it wasn't as bad as I thought, not so scared to tackle the swap.

Great no ugly cracks :D

New Pagid Yellows all round, rear arb bushes and drop links, refitted AMF kit as it's a bit warmer (it doesn't like the cold).
Great improvements with the shorter shift kit and new stick, gear change a delight.
Car almost ready to do a few track days. With the combination of MAF, Promax chip and new front box, the engine now feels much livelier.
Next jobs:- rattling tailgate and must get those sills done properly.

Changed my boot struts and had a fully opening boot on button press for about 10 repetitions before they seemed to get puffed out and needed a wee hand to make their way fully open! Still a lot better than before and the boot lid will almost certainly not fall on my head again before full extension of the struts! Maybe they will open fully again tomorrow after a wee sleep!

You forget how heavy that rear hatch is with no struts attached. Poor Mrs Scam was complaining of sore arms as I re-attached the new struts! Naturally I told her to stop being a big girls blouse but that seemed to be a catalyst for going in the cream puff! Honesty gets you nowhere. She'll get over it!

There was no Mrs Jazzman to help with mine. I had to use a wooden stick and do one side at a time! Now you may have to deal with the opposite problem: hope the hatch does not pop open when driving.

The thought had crossed my mind, I have nice new pins though which should help, if I have any poppage issues I will get new latches to complete a full renewal of all boot lifting/closing equipment!!

I put my 968 in for an MOT today, it failed :blackeye: . He failed it on brake pipes to the rear calipers being kinked at the coupling. Nothing has been done since the last MOT and nothing was noted re: this at that garage. I hope this isn't one of those made-up faults we hear of! Estimate of £60-70 to make and fit new pipes in copper. I'm going to let them keep it and do the work to minimise the cost of re-test. The only advisories last year were for front bearing slight wear and a rip out of one tyre. He hasn't mentioned them. It failed on the off side seatbelt in '13 so I had that replaced with one from Ebay.

You will just never know unless you take it to somebody else.

My car was last MOTd in March 2012. Failed on handbrake. Took it to another garage.... passed. Took the car off the road in August 2012 and did nothing to it until I put it together this weekend - basically just bolted on new wings and bumper and started it up.

Today I took it for an MOT, it's only done 230 miles since the last one two years ago, and nothing has been done to it other than clean out the cobwebs. It passed - at the same garage that originally failed it.

I guess you just take your chance with these people.

Just taxed it for 12 months. Think I'll be up at five in the morning for a blast round the country lanes.

Had my 924 MoT'ed on Friday, which it failed  not on much though; play in front off side wheel bearing, corrosion on front off side brake pipe, front near side brake hose rubbing, battery insecure.

Friday after the test I fitted the battery clamp properly, Saturday I fitted a new front flexi hose (which turned out to be shorter than the old one but still long enough not to stretch), and yesterday I got a length of cupro-nickel brake pipe and fitted it. Also adjusted the wheel bearing. Just need to fit a new brake pipe clip (if I can get one that fits!) and bleed the brakes ready for a re-test soon :bounce:

That's true, I'm going to go round tomorrow and ask him to show me the fault with the pipes. Depending how convinced (or not) I am after will decide if I want to take it elsewhere to MOT it or if I just go with it.

Why is a "kink" in a brake pipe a failure anyway? As long as the brakes work to the required standard why is the shape of the pipe an issue?

Had a look at the car up on the ramp at Ivan's this morning, I can see the issue the tester has failed it on, I guess other testers have used a bit more discretion in previous years. The guy seemed genuine though and were happy enough when I turned up there and asked a couple of questions. They'd had to search high and low for the locking wheel bolt key but had put everything away tidily again in the boot. They didn't find it because it was in my A3!

Drove out to a Porsche garage in Essex , Paul Stevens, to get the car valued for insurance purposes. Seemed a nice chap to talk to and sure had some nice motors on display, young and old.then drove further along to P & A Woods at Gt.Dunmow to look at some classic RR and Bentlys with prices to match
