Here's my '89 S2 as it currently stands...

I bought it a couple of months ago after it had been standing for 18 months. It now has new Spax coilover suspension, wheels, tyres, brakes, service kit, etc...

The plan is to run it for a while as it is, then get the cosmetics sorted a few months down the road.

She needs a valet.

Did you fit the full Spax coilover kit or just coils up front and standard on the rear? There's been problems with the rear coilovers rattling in the past so it would be good to know if they've resolved this as it's one of the next things on my shopping list.

That she does... it looks like it's been taken through a million car washes that use scouring pads to clean! It needs paint as it's stone chipped and there's a few scabs here and there, so not too bothered about the cosmetics just now (what a lie!) I just want to get it running and on the road.

I opted for the non-rear adjustable Spax coilover kit... as I've heard horror stories about a) the shock top mounts not being strong enough to cope on their own if the torsion bars are removed and b) getting the springs and torsion bars set up to the same "height" setting. The shocks are adjustable front and rear for stiffness, but it's just the fronts are height adjustable. I've re-index'd the rear torsion bars about as low as I dare... and the helpers have been removed from the fronts as they were as low as they'd go with them in and the front was still a smidge higher than the rear... and I couldn't have that!

I bought the 18" wheels second hand and the tyres are 215/35's all round... so on the rear 9.5" rims, they are a tad too small! So I'll be replacing them fairly soon...

Geeman - That's even lower than mine!!

I have Gaz Gold, struts only at rear, no coilovers, set up for fast road. Speed bumps can hurt and I'm forever buffing the rear of the sill trims when changing direction quickly. However they are plastic and seem to cope quite well! You car looks good! :D
