I went for a wee drive over the weekend
London to Folkstone, then Calais to Brussels, Brussels to Amsterdam then back home to London

didn't miss a beat, shame can't be said for me, got a spot of food poisoning (allergic to mussels) and had long drive home feeling more than shite :(

It is great to see the care and attention you are putting into the car Rich. So if I am correct, you are now running the Stage 1 upgrade with a boost enhancer, 3 Bar FPR and some chips? Not bad power figures regardless :). The main thing is that you are enjoying it.

I serviced mine, and it was quite easy to service. It seems to have had new fuel hoses at the filter which is always a bonus! At the same time (some may say this is a little OTT or detrimental to the car) I took the opportunity to lightly grease the fuel and brake pipes. They were fine, but prevention is better than a cure especially with replacing the fuel lines!

Thanks very much, I'm really enjoying it! You're not far off, but the top of the power graph gives away a DPW ;)

It has 951Max chips, a homebrew DPW (as an experiement I've converted a stock WG to dual port...) and a boost regulator. I wasn't planning to do this just yet, but upon removing the inlet mani to solve some leaks I found the cycling valve was fubar so I was pushed in to it, or so I keep telling myself!

I've done a lot of other maintenance to the car too that I've not had time to post about, so other than the rich running she's in rude health! It now has the correct rear Koni's and Welt rear arb so the balance is now as it should be... It also has fresh brakes so stops as it should too :)

Great to see you enjoying it Rich and giving it the attention it deserves - some good pics too. Such a nice car 8)

Replaced my screaming wiper motor. It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be.

I can now drive in the rain and talk to my passenger!

I rang GAZ monday and they gave me the good news that the coilovers were ready after being altered! :)

So last night I went round to my mates where the car has been for the past month.

Also yesterday my rear valance arrived (Thanks Chas):

Today I spent most of the day sorting some brake ducts which were basically left over bits off of my Step dads Cobra so was a slight make it up as I go along job....

Quite well hidden, you can't see it at all when you actually look at the car.

It's not quite settled yet and we've got to play with the torsion bars on saturday so not quite the final height yet but you get the idea!

Superb work Darryl. Careful with that brake shield though. Yours looks like it's touching the disc.

That looks pretty good it has to be said!

I am glad I could be of service with the rear valance :).

Ah, I remember the days when my GAZ were shiny as a new penny. A few years later, 6000 miles and very little wet use and they look very second hand and tarnished now

Chas they sent later offset ones to me originally so I had them changed to the early offsets and also rear coilover than the rear shock they sent me.

I plan to keep these cleaned up although I know Gaz shocks don't stay as clean for long like other brands.

Took the wheels off and power washed the underside of the car in readiness for the MOT. A dirty afternoon repairing any areas of erosion of the underbody protection and a fresh coat of stone-chip in the wheel arches should see the old girl fit for another year.

A good inspection of the underside showed everthing is still in good order and attached as it should be....always reassuring!
