Nothing to do with me, but spotted these Silver Rose wheels with new tyres on Ebay.

He wants £700 to end the auction early.
The wheels themselves look great. I'm not convinced by the stretched tyres though.

Way out of my budget but nice wheels never the less.

Worth about £400 tops IMHO, and then you'd need to ditch those silly tyres and get proper ones for an extra £3-400

Those tyres look lethal, I'm sure plod would have something to say if you got pulled. They are only 195 instead of 205 but look minute.

They won't pull you over for them.

Stretching tyres is the new scene thing to do. I've seen one person put a 195/45R15 tyre onto a 10J rim before and claim that it is safe.

The scene guy's argument is that if the drifters can keep them on fine...

Ive always been in favour of a slightly stretched tyre, but its nothing to do with fashion and everything to do with performance. Its always better to have the wheel slightly under-tyred than it is to have too wide a tyre on.....

With regards to the wheels in question though: theyre massively over-valued and foolishly under-tyred.

Someone with a VW will buy them even at that money.
They were probably fitted to a golf or corrado with those tyres.

Yup my thoughts, the VW brigade seem to be the prime exponents of this look.

Maybe we should all fit VW Golf/Jetta wheels to our cars?

I don't mind a little stretch too Simon, it's when people take it too far as I stated in my post (the guy I stated popped 3 tyres off his rims and claimed it was nothing to do with the combo...).

AFAIK the VW boys adapt their PCDs to allow the Porker wheels to fit. Bloody Fanboys. But if I am wrong, then I'm game for that  .

I realise that we're talking about quite different things. The silly atretching seems to have prompted a lot of people to incorrectly suggest that any stretch is bad though; which it isnt. Ideally, to work at its best, a tyres sidewall will be slightly over 180°: many are substantially under 180° due to the wheels being over-tyred and this is just as bad as the currently popular 'Euro-look' (worse in some ways).
