That will last about 5 mins, as the thrust washers eat away at the soft link bar, don't think I will let him fix my car

thats an old trick for a quick fix. I'd pay a few extra dollars and go with the only944.com solution. That guy works with high end carbon fibre interiors. I've seen some great work of his for 997's, 991's and caymans, etc.

I don't think I could stand that for long ! Migraine-inducing check pattern, and the tacked-on dash cover looks like a ... tacked on dash cover.

I like it. It reminds me of an early 944 interior called herringbone, iirc. Definitely easier on the eyes than a pasha interior. He says in his build thread refinishing the dash is yet to come.

Is that carpet on the dash to cover the scorch marks from the angle grinder?

He could have at least taken the gear lever out of the car to grind the weld..hot metal swarf has a habit of melting into vinyl and plastic...

I actually did a repair similar to this on my first 944 (out of the car!), I found the pin to be very worn, but the metal tube it fits into was pretty OK, never had any issues with the washers eating into the metal. However, if I did it again I would probably fit a thrust bearing between the gear lever shaft and the tube.

Different choice of door card material would be my taste, but the right idea. RS red door pull gets a thumbs up from me

That's true! So only half a job there too. Not that its too hard to have done it properly with a door pull and the tape connected to the catch

The carpets are necessary, rather than a desired addition. Dashboards here in Northern Europe are mostly spoiled, but in warm states in America theyre all absolutely f**ked. There are even less good replacements to buy there than there are here, obviously, so what do people expect the owners to do...?

You can buy remanufactured rhd dashboards now.

Bet the guy in the clip could soon knock a new dash up with some 6 foot lengths of 3x2 some plastic and a Stanley knife !
