Just went out in the garage this morning to be greeted by an overpowering smell of petrol, i've removed the strap and it seems to be coming from the bottom of the tank where you can see the bottom of a jubilee clip. i'm assuming its where the filler pipe goes into the tank. i'm a bit confused as to how its put together as it seems to go over the metal shield on the bottom.
Just wondered if anyone has had a similar leak and could shed some light on it for me.
heres a pic, im sorry its not very clear

The pipe out of the bottom of the tank is often favourite, unlikely to be the tank as its plastic.

Yeah, I'm just confused as to how it's made up and comes apart with the clip going over the metal shield.

I think (but am not 100%) the jubilee clip you are looking at is holding the fuel pump. Its worth trying to undo that and checking the pipe from the tank to the pump - IIRC its about 100mm long right angle pipe.

It also has a screw in filter there so it could be one of the flexi pipes near the pump.

right problem identified, its the join of the banjo pipe to the pump. also i split the right angle pipe trying to clamp it. from porsche shop the right angle pipe is £37 alone, banjo pipe £47! phoned up the porsche main dealer today £8 and £16.
Robbing bastards.

Glad you got it fixed, but unfortunately the way you wrote the above implies the OPC are the con merchants - although you didn't mean it like that.

I have said in loads of previous posts - Porsche Shop are... well, together with Douglas Valley (who want £100 + vat for a used bonnet) they make a posse! They must be making more money than our friendly banks.

Yeah sorry porscheshop I mean. Not the dealer. I was quite surprised when I first got the car how reasonable porsche's prices are on parts. Coming from vauxhall's the pricings not that different. I've used porscheshop before for convenience but they can't justify that mark up. Also postage on top!
.......and yes, I am a vauxhall fan!

Rich,

Porscheshop have been criticised openly on the forum for their pricing policy. I've used them before. Sometimes they apply the TIPEC discount, sometimes not. Eventually I just stopped using them.

Always call the OPC. They often come up trumps.

All done. Now I can breathe easy. It was the copper washer in-between the pump and the return valve. Could have been a very cheap fix but I've replaced the small pipe from tank, all three copper washers, banjo pipe and fuel filter. All came to £56 from Porsche so I thought I'd do it all.
