O dear. New gearbox ready to go in. Old gearbox out. No speedo drive on the new one. 1987 was the cross over year to ABS. My car must have been one of the last not to have it. Sugar. Anyone know a cheaper alternative than a new diff'? Has to be a simpler away to get the speedo working. :(

Confused as I thought they all used the sensor in the trans! Early cars used a hub driven speedo same as a Beetle. Are you saying the later cars used the ABS sensor? ABS was still an option post 87 so I think not. Mine has no ABS despite being a late car.

Yes the late cars must have used the ABS. Theres a hole in the box but no gear on the diff' :( Can't run to a new diff'. Without a speedo drive my car is dead...... As well as the Suzuki. :(

Not ABS cars. They don't have a gear in the diff. They run from a wheel sensor. Hoping I can fit a single wheel sensor & run it off that.
