The service history for my 944S indicates the brake fluid on my car hasn't been changed for years so I've got the car booked in at the local garage for this to be done.

Clarke's Garage (which is an excellent source of information) states:

"Make sure you use a good DOT 4 brake fluid. DO NOT use DOT 3 or DOT 5 fluid"

However, my little black Pocket Guide to Porsche Ownership book says "DOT 3 only".

Which brake fluid should I be using, please?

Dot 4 has replaced Dot 3,Dot 3 hasnt been made for over 10/15 years

So its Dot 4 you need.
