Hello All

The history file I have with my 944S (bought mid June this year) shows it had an oil, air filter and coolant change service just 4K miles ago... however, this was 2.5 years ago.

The car is running very sweetly (notwithstanding the odd sunroof leak), however, given the time that's elapsed I don't think it will do any harm giving the car another service before the winter.

Given the choice I'd prefer to take the car to my local garage (who did an excellent job of maintaining my previous cars: Eunos and MGF) rather than pay the premium rates at my local Porsche specialist. Obviously, for more specialist work (such as the cam chain tensioner inspection carried out in August) I'll continue to take the car to Autowerke here in Norwich.

There's no particular issue with this basic kind of servicing that ought to only be carried out by a specialist though, are there? Presumably an oil change is an oil change and a coolant change is a coolant change, isn't it?

Any thoughts please?

Have you asked them if they are prepared to do it?

Oil change is normal anoth, and so is a coolent change. Think most people work on there own cars, there just a car. No more complicated then any other. There 20years+ old which makes them simple in Porsche terms but problematic due 2 old bolts. Specailts may pin point a strange noise or problem quicker.

Could get the Cam cover off and have the theet and chain / tensor looked at. These are an item often missed during serivces
