Thought this might interest some of you guys on here. I noticed some rust forming around the mounting point for my rear axle (the one that I had to saw through a bolt to remove) so I ordered some bits from Bilt Hamber and set to work treating the area before things got any worse.

This is what the area looked like after the underseal was peeled away to reveal all the rust

A wire brush and some wet&dry left me with this

White spirit to degrease the area then soapy water gave this

BH Deox Gel applied

And after!

I think I could've gotten more off if I'd applied the gel more thickly to begin with and given another coat after but considering that I just wanting to clean the area up and stop the rust spreading this was enough.

Next I gave a coat of Hydrate 80 and that's how it's been left at the moment

I also did the sills using Dynax S50 on both sides (making sure to keep the drainage holes clear) so when this car finally makes it back on the road it should be good to stay there for many more years.

ETA: I could've sworn somebody on here saying that Dynax S50 stank.....I quite liked the smell

Well Done! Awful rust trap there (just welded both sides on mine!) - good to catch it!

Thought I'd update this with a quick pic of it after a bit of paint to finish the job. I'm going to put a bit of waxoyl in the corners just for added protection but not on any of the surfaces where the bush sits.

The camera wasn't too keen on focusing on it but you get the idea.
