the slipper pad. is a 928 part. and is about £12 from porsche shop, and ment 2 be even cheaper drict from opc. however theres 2pads and the lower one only comes on a new tensoner. which are about £300! the up slipper just slids off and on. you could prob change it while ur inpecting it. all you need 2 do,with manually force. is take the tenson off the chain. how ever as simple as taking a few bolts out can lead 2 alot of argo. i had 2 bolts snap removing my rocker cover. and them new bolts seem 2 be hard 2 find and about 15-20 pounds each! all do some simlper length blot with the same tread will work, just dont over tighten them 2 far in to the engine block, as they wont have a stop on them. there a 5mm allen key take a new dencent one with u as a cheap one will just round them out.
the chain £25 but need chainging by a mercanic as the cam shaft need 2 be removed as the chain comes in a complete loop and should not be broken.
this also needs changing, every 80000 miles. however mine was changed at 65 along with then tensoner,(from new) i think it was changed at the same time as the belts as the next time any work was done would be around 90-10000 which in turn would make the chain over due. im changing my chain again next week as it has streached allready and has marked the under side off the rocker/camcover. which will now be 116000 so 50000 miles later nearly half as long as it should.
the problem with the pads are they age, and perish over time. they start off white then yellow then orange then brown. once they turn silghtly orange they need changin. a strected chain will wear the theeth on the cam shafs. maybe even snap. cutting though ur engine block
