Does anyone on here have one?

Could I fit a badge panel from a 924 Turbo straight to a 944? Failing that, does anybody have the dimensions of the 4 vents so I can modify a standard 944 panel?

Any hidden fixings?

Regards,
Nicola

Lots of hidden fixings: theyre welded on, as are series one 944 badge panels. September 195 / 1986 model year onwards 944s have bolt on badge panels.

Mines an '85 ('86 model year) explains why I thought it would be fairly easy to change! Is the 924 turbo badge panel the same profile as a '86 onwards 944 badge panel, would it be modifiable to bolt on?

Thanks,
Nicola

I know they need modification to make them fit, but don’t know enough to describe the differences. I do know that a few people have successfully gone down the route of cutting holes in a standard panel instead.

The rubber pieces that sit behind each vent/hole are rarer than hen’s teeth these days, so expect to pay a premium for those if you can find any.

An alternative might be to look at the fibreglass replica parts made by http://www.teilecar.com in Poland. I know they make one to fit the original 924 and a version to fit the 944 Turbo/S2. Maybe they have one for a standard 944 as well?

To answer your question in a round-about way: when Porsche deleted the weld-on badge panel years ago, they superceded it in the 924 (et al) parts catalogue with a bolt on part. From this Id conclude that theyre fundamentally similar. On the other hand they did the same with the early bonnets, replacing them with September 1985 onwards 944 parts, which fit but dont match up internally.
