Hi is it possible 2 swap over the seat backs? My driver bolster has worn. If this is possible the worn bolster would be on the inside on the pansangers, even if yours hadn't yet worn this could be a good way 2 even out the wear and increase life.

Yes & if it's not too bad it's a good idea. At least yours is black & can be treated with boot polish!

It's seems so simple, wear on the bolster is a comman problem, if it's not already split this should be one off the first new owner jobs, along with the belts


Jj mine are linen leather. With White carpets but rest is all black. I am looking 2 repire and redye mine.

So I may look out 4 a bad condition drivers and good passenger 2 just swap the backs. Are the base a simple swap, is the seat adjustment on the mounting frames?

Not that simple. Mine are Linen too but linen comes in a thousand shades. 25 years of age + different conditions during there life. Dismantlers usually only sell complete interiors. Could do with a new seat back myself. Think the seat bases are pretty much the same but it's not a big job to change the runners if you have to.

Linen hasnt been available for "25 years". Linen was introduced in 1988, replacing Grey-beige (also called Light Grey in some markets). What many refer to as 'linen' in many cases is actually Grey-Beige. Grey-Beige was available in series one 944s and in 1986 and 1987 model year series two 944s (usually with a split colour dash).

Linen is Linen and there arent 'thousands of shades'.

They seem to have a "bank" of colours already matched from other Porsches, so if you know the colour you want it should be there.

If thats the case why can't I find two the same anywhere???? And why do Gliptone insist on a sample of your seat to match the dye to? When produced they were the same but environmental conditions (smoke sunlight etc.) cause subtle colour changes.
