Where are you buying Vpower? Nobody seems to sell it anymore around here!

Shell Ossett just off Junction 40 of the M1 sell it. I go that way regularly so can fill up. Price has gone up something chronic though. I'm having to put V Power in every 4th tank full now. Joys of running a 80 litre tank gas guzzling modern classic everyday! It does run sweeter though on the full fat 99 RON rather than the skimmed 95 RON. I can also recommend Tesco 99 but not all Tesco filling stations sell it.

Right! The latest is that the oil pressure relief valve seems to have failed; an external oil pressure gauge was attached and the engine had good pressure (cold and hot). But it was still "tappety", a change of all the tappets has resulted in a quieter idle; now there will be a road test and I should get it back in time for the weekend! The cams are in fine fettle, no damage, small mercies I suppose...
It seems that the issues with the oil gauge on the dash was a very unfortunate coincidence, the external pressure gauge indicates good pressure; unless someone knows if there is a common weakness somewhere along the circuit?
So, latest mod... mini top end rebuild...
Thanks for the help so far

Well, it turns out my joy was short lived and premature! The noisy tappets are back and now accompanied by very low pressure on the dash guage. The next step will be replacing the lower mounted pressure valve (I think) after that I think the doctors will call time... Anyone know of a good S2 or 968 lump?

It turns out to be terminal; all senders/valves have been replaced so it looks like this is going to require more work to sort out. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to spend money on the car so I'm forced to but it up for sale as it is, which is a real shame as the car was begining to get really interesting.
So if someone is after a clean S2 with new disks, pad refurb. calipers and KW's please get in touch.
Neil

Thats tough Neil but hang fire a minute. You need a short engine to make it good & having spent that much you should do it. If you really can't then you will get the best return breaking it. As it is it's worth very little. Sadly even Porsche engines die eventually. I would ring round & get a price on a short engine from Porsheapart, Hartech of Bolton, & check out ebay for a rusty mot failure with a good lump in it before giving up. Your looking at £600ish + gaskets. Will be cheaper than giving up now. :(

Thanks for the encouragement JJ, but to be honest I now now how all those "unfinished project" and "just needs a little TLC" type adds come about. It's my only car and I don't have the time or room to work this one out. I've had an offer on it and I'm inclined to accept it!

Could be a cracked oil suction tube starving the pump, it's mentioned fairly often on RL when there's low/no oil pressure...
