Saw the following for sale on eBay...

Are they any good? I'd appreciate the feedback..

I'll be in a minority here I have them on my 944 & think they are great. They create less dust & stop the same or better.

I was a fan of EBC (on my previous cars) until I had green's fitted to my S, they weren't very good, no feel and tended to snatch, swapped for Pagids recently and the improvement is very noticable.
The only thing I will say is that they showed minimal wear after 12k.

IMHO Unipart are just as good. Also there very cheap!! So cheap you can fit a new full set every year. Still EEC approved so withing 10% of OEM just like Pagid or Greenstuff. Proper race pads are now illegal. It's true the EBC ones do keep your wheels clean if your into that sort of thing........

I haven't used Unipart Pads before, but I have used their other products which seem to vary from OK (Rotor Arms), to fairly decent (oil and filters) so would say that they are a safe bet.

I haven't had a good experience with EBC. Even their Reg 90 Pads in OE applications were shocking (I had an MG Midget that braked better than one of my Moderns with Reg 90s!) with Halfords own brand being much better! Out of the lot I have been happiest with the Pagid OE spec pads for a normal pads with Mintex and Vetchech coming close (but oddly squealing (bad batch maybe?). This wasn't on a Porsche but all pads have been on the same car.

IMO Fast road pads do benefit a braking system alot if picked right, but usually you will only reap the benefits if the car is driven hard.

Nope, I like them too Jim. I have the Greens on my S2 and find them just the same as OEM but with less dust

Thats the point Paul. They have to be by law. It doesn't matter which brand you get they have to perform withing 10% (Thats + or - 5%) Expensive ones will not be 5% better due to tolerances. You just pay for the brand. Except that EBC ones keep your wheels clean. Not sure thats worth paying 3 times the price of Halfords or Unipart. When you fit new pads your comparing them to the worn out ones that were in before. So if you've fried them with some big stops they won't be so good anymore. Used to have some great mintex pads. But they didn't work cold. First stop your heart was in your mouth as it felt like it wasn't going to. After that was great. Now illegal This is not a free country anymore.

I've only used them on one car and that was a 1993 XR3i.

On the standard brakes I found that they overheated very easily leaving me with next to no braking so upgraded the discs to grooved red dot items and green stuff pads which resulted in overheating being almost eliminated (during road use at least never went on track).

Can't say if this was due to the pads or the discs though as both were changed at the same time but I found them to be fairly good.
