It's usually the plastic cup that wears and allow the steel ball to pop out.
You can get the parts from your OPC and I don't think that they are that expensive.

Replacing the arm will not help. You need the spindle as well as it wears with the plastic bush. Simple answer is remove the spindle & take it to an engineers with the arm. Ask them to drill right through & the bush then you can fix the arm on with a split pin & a couple of washers. Hartech of Bolton will supply you with a modified one for sensible money. You can use a jubilee clip & a a bit of cranked bar fastened to the crank as a temporary fix to stop the arm coming off. (Mines been like that all winter as the weathers been too bad for messing about. Still works fine.
Sadly the parts you need are no longer available from Porsche. Only the arm can be bought new. If you don't fancy that the alternative is a replacement rack from Porscheapart. But theres no guarantee how long it will last.

yh a quick fix will do for now. I cant quite picture what you mean above. I know what a jubilee clip is.. dont understand what you mean by the term cranked or crank. Please try explain a different way for me and i'll give that a go. thanks

An ace bodge that kept mine going for 12 months was two thick rubber bands ( post office red ones work well ) .Wrap them round one linkage and then feed the other one through the first and round the second bar.If you have them reasonably tight it will hold the ball and socket together very effectively whilst still allowing the movement you need in normal operation.I eventually bought a complete rack off fleabay for a tenner which seems to work OK.

Hi,

I had the same failure with mine. When you've fitted the replacement parts, its worth smearing grease around the ball joint. As the ball joint is upward facing, all the rain and elements get into it. The grease should help keep the water out.

Hope this helps,

Ben :bounce:

Have a look at this post. http://forums.tipec.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=5569&hilit=+wiper+repair

Scroll down for the pics. Still got the clip on as the new parts didn't fix it for long. The bit the clips on is the crank & thats what Hartech will sell you drilled so you only need a split pin & a couple of washers to hold the arm in place for good. Will take a pic of that bit when I get a chance. :)
