Guys,

I am looking to organise a Porsche RWYB drag racing event next year at Santa Pod on 17th April.
The idea is to get as many Porsche's there as possible and all Porsche cars of any type will be welcome

I thought a 928 category would be nice and its a great chance to meet.
Brett has promised to bring his 928 s2 auto on steroids over.
The one with the full race 1000BHP nitrous system fitted.
Paul Smith's 89 944 3.2L Turbo will be there too.

A number of the 928uk have promised to bring their 928's too.
I am trying to get the likes of Jon Mitchell and Paul Anderson there

It would be an ideal opportunity to meet, greet and setttle any outstanding scores.
Trophies provided by Sean, Brett and myself.

SO FAR I HAVE
6 x 928
4 x 944 Turbos

Please e-mail or PM me if you wish to add your name and car to the list?

I might be tempted with that. But with it being 5 months away you will have to remind me closer to the time and I must fix the oil leak!

17th April is a Friday. Will be doing childcare. Are you allowed passengers on the drag strip?

Hmmmm, I'm not sure how the S2 will fare, plus I'm not sure I fancy abusing a fresh clutch with 2,000 miles on it! I'll see how I feel closer to the time :). I hear stories of the clutch material coming away and the gearboxes blowing up...

However, my old Pug 306 GTi-6 fared well mind you (I remember that car getting a 15.6 second 1/4 mile down Shakespeare Raceway in near enough standard spec (bar a PiperX Cone induction kit (I ditched this for the OE setup after the run) and a Jetex Exhaust). A guy who also had a GTi-6 but with TBs, Decat, Magnex exhaust and Longmans' head got a 15.1 as his best time. He wasn't too impressed with my times .

I took my first Silver Rose with a brand new clutch Drag Racing without problems.
Most horror stories you hear as for 'normal' cars.
Porsches are designed for performance not shopping.
If your car has no LSD you are probably better not red lining it before launch anyway.
Get your name down.

Live and breathe the Marque,
Stephen

I have no intention of abusing my car or its clutch. I'm going to meet, listen to and see loads of Porsche cars and loads of Porsche people. Hopefully maybe have a barbeque somewhe on the way or on the way back ? whatever. I have no problem putting my car up the strip for 35 quid or whatever it is and if I 'lose' to someone who really wants to hammer their car up there then oh deary me what a pity (not) , I will enjoy myself all the same TBH. Of course a 'respectable' time would be great don't get me wrong :bom:

I am definately going to do a track day at Bedford in the Spring too , hopefully some other Porsche folk down here will join me and in the same way , I'll be pleased to whirrrr round a circuit but I shan't be after any trophies or putting my car at any great risk. Im told Bedford is the safest circuit for run offs so unless you are really stupid your car should be fine.

Cheers Mas
