Not for me but might be of interest to someone. This popped up on my saved searches alert http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290351795125&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:1123

Your views on this JIM?

Ok the kit is incomplete, it looks like one of the brackets is missing. There should be a bracket which replaces the alternator mount & the 3 bolt holes have bolts through into. This bracket would be a pain to fab & not sure it is available elsewhere. It is a damn thick chunk of alloy so not cheap & hardly likely to be something you can knock up with a jigsaw & file :P I also can't see any intercooler.
The Procharger has self contained oil which makes it easier to install than the Vortech I'm playing with which needs a oil feed line at gallery pressure & a clear gravity fed return line to the sump. Both of which are a fiddle on a 944 because the oil feed is on the other side of the block grrrr.. It has a higher step up ratio than the Vortech & a higher rev limit at 80,000 RPM which makes choosing pulleys a bit more flexible. Looking at various sites some people are claiming higher efficiency than AN Other makes of centrifugal chargers but it is straight vaned which is meant to be less efficient.
A quick google & I can't find a pressure map for it which means I can't say whether it is suitable for a 944 & which engine. Looking at the layout I'd suggest it is for the 8V 944s. The lack of maps apparently is a Procharger thing, god knows how you're meant to size it! I wrote some Excel which with a map gives gearing, boost & boost ratio etc. & assist hugely for blower design.

Thanks Jim, I now know a bit more about superchargers and what's involved. My turbo is pretty good and I think I'll stay with that 8)

By the way Jim did you still want to borrow a sunroof panel? I need to clear some of my garage out and mine's still spare.

I love the installation sketch, slightly better than the back of a fag packet.

I could do with borrowing one but I'm not down that way, how could we get it to Kent?

The listing says includes fuel rail & intercooler. But I bet he fitted it & couldn't get it to work properly! Almost tempted as the bracket could be quite easily machined with CNC miller. But would be big hassle to get it to work properly. Not saying you can't do it Jim. But without a second car wifesky would be baying for me to scrap the whole porsche in less than a week if it wasn't an instant success!

TBH I'd bin the Porsche DME & go Emerald or Megasquirt. Installing an intercooler on a Lux is not trivial work either.

On mine I'm looking at modding the alternator bracket rather than scrapping the lot.
