Hello guys. Just put my car in for the mot which it sailed through. Now the problem. Drove it back fine, but when I stopped to open the garage door I could no longer get it in gear. I eventually forced it in gear so I could garage it. I've had no problems up until this, like clutch slipping or finding it hard to select a gear. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Gary

More likely to be the clutch hydraulics than the clutch itself. Is there any fluid in the reservoir? If it's low then you have a leak. Put your hand up behind the clutch pedal & see if it's damp, if it is the leak is the clutch master, if not it could be the hydraulic hose at the back of the block or the clutch slave cylinder. The slave can leak & not be visible until removed. The bolts on my slave were so tight I had to drop the starter off to get the upper undone. Make sure you have a spanner of the right size to bleed it afterwards as the nipple is very small!

Thanks Jim. It was too dark to see tonight so I'll have a look tomorrow. At least it sounds like I won't need a new clutch then touch wood. That would be all I need on the turbo after my redundancy.

as said , sounds like cylinder/leak. clutches go gradually (unless youve given it serious hammer and big power)

Just a quick warning, that if you're taking out the slave cylinder remember to disconnect the battery, as the starter is permanently live and you end up with a shower of sparks! AMHIK

Also an ezibleed kit makes bleeding very easy (hence the name I suppose )

The rubber pipe from the reservoir to the master cylinder tends to perish and let water into the fluid, which stuffs the whole thing.. I have a meter of the hose in my garage because you need a few inches and it comes in a meter length..
