 Post subject: Belt Change

Going to do a precautionary belt change on my new 944. I plan to do both belts do I need to replace the cam and balancer tensioners too?

Depends on condition, there is also oil seals, top hats & water pump to think of as well.

water pump was replaced a while ago so hopefully doesnt need doing this time. I think I may as well have both tensioners replaced

Are you doing them yourself?

The tensioners can be pricey, so I'd check them first (spin freely, little play etc)

The parts, the tensioners are around 40 quid each (Have a look at Berlyn) the seals are around 5 & the top hats are 10-12 all from memory.Mine needed the lot! So a 250 job became 500!

ok, I've sourced both tensioners from GSF, £27 and £24 plus VAT...thought it worth changing them whilst there. I can get the both belts and tensioners for under £100 inc VAT.
