I know I have seen the ratio list somewhere before but I can't produce it now I need it :roll: From memory the 6th gear ratio is virtually the same as 5th on an S2, but the lower gears are closer together. IMHO it would be nicer with a higher final drive as I already find the S2 gearing a little low (eg you have to change to 3rd before hitting 60mph)

Yup one of my concerns with the supercharger project, effectively I'll end up with a 4.5 litre engine & it'll need higher gearing.
I've an LSD S2 box in the garage at the mo.

It depends on your useage Jim but when you get to circa 400bhp then even the wide spaced Turbo box seems very close ratio'd :D An S2 box with your supercharged monster will be changing gear constantly when on the juice, but this will be very beneficial if you want a fast accelerating track car in between the corners. Not so convenient in a road car IMHO

You might be better with a 250 Turbo 'box, Jim. You'd get the same LSD, longer ratios and benefit from hardened 1st and 2nd gears.

Interesting I didn't know there was a box with a longer final drive. I'll have a scroll through the manuels at some point, when my lunatic travel schedule subsides!

The Turbo is much longer geared than the S2. Think 70+ in second, well North of a ton in third and 145 in 4th, with theoretical gearing for close to 180 at redline in 5th.

So I could build a hybrid box with the turbo CWP.... ummmm

I don't know if that is possible but I do know that Patrick (333PG333) over in Aussie land has fitted the S2 CWP to his Turbo box because he specifically wanted shorter ratios for track use. I suppose the reverse is true but it would be churlish to remove a Turbo CWP and put it into the weaker S2 box when you could just use the Turbo box (unless the rest of the Turbo box was known to be knackered)

Gear ratios for a manual 968:

1st = 3.1782, 2nd = 2.000, 3rd = 1.435, 4th = 1.111, 5th = 0.912, 6th = 0.778, Rev. = 3.455

Final drive = 3.778

Jeff.
