Roy still does a bit of powdercoating for me from time to time so see him a bit. I chucked the train job nearly a year ago, had moved companies and hated it so been doing my own thing. Been working on and off in myt mates garage in Glasgow so use a ramp in their for my stuff. Did a top end on an S2 last year with belts, water pump , engine mounts, valve guides, etc for a boy i knew, doing this 924S for a guy that Stuart at SP in Stirling put on to me. Needs the usual belts, water pump, engine mounts and the gearbox hgad started to play up. Never had an oil change in there in it's life, the oil was

ing. The adhesive that bonds the material to the plates doesn't like moisture so the plates just fall to pieces, the car had been sat for a long time, the final drive oil was like a grey paste that came out, Porsche never fitted a drain plug which was rather daft. It seems the plates started to lose the ferodo material which then statrted to clog the oil strainer as that sits only 3 or 4 mm off the plate so not much room at all. The strainer was totally blocked which then exacerbates the problem with low oil pressure which then means the pressure on the plates is less thus causing more slip in the clutches. The cost of a rebuild kit was 705 Euros plus the tax but only $178 from the US for the same kit. Took 2 days to arrive from the States, it turns out 2 of the piston seals have slight leaks as well so have a full set of them on their way.
Don't have any Porsches at the minute, still have a B10 V8 BM i bought nearly 12 years ago and 3 E type jags as well plus a mostly restored TR4A that i have known since i was 17 when a mate bought it. The bodywork is all done but needs painting and the chassis is all done, just needs put together after the engine and gearbox have been done. The block is cracked between the halves so is in the Isle of Man just now being welded.
I finished up with the bike racing last year as had won all i wanted to win and could win at the Isle of Man and its very expensive as well. Fuel alone is £3600 a time for 3 bikes for the event! 3 sets of engine rebuild components are over 10 k just for the bits! Not a cheap hobby at all. Won the Senior Classic TT in 2019 with Davo Johnston beating Michael Dunlop and the 2022 Senior Manx GP with Steve Smith
