Hi All,

I had a second look at the bad connection on the sender and remade the connection, took the car over to a Porsche garage today to test the pressure, once a got there the pressure dropped to just below 4  . The garage did the pressure test and all is ok, their reading is 1/4 bar less then the guage on the car.

It seems that changing the oil and putting the oil flush in may have cleared some crap in the engine as the oil was black once the flushing oil had been put in.

Cheers
Pete :D

Pete glad it's OK! If it was that dirty it might be worth dumping the oil & filter in a 1000 or so miles & putting in fresh. The 944 has hydraulic tappets & if they gum up or get dirt in them they need replacing which will be big money!
In the days when Dad was a garage manager running a big fleet of diseasal vans, when I bought a new (to me) car it'd get a sump of Diesel oil (Shell Rotella) which had huge amounts of detergent in it. I'd run it for around 500-1000 miles drain & put something decent in. The amount of rubbish it removed could be amazing!

If the relief valve sticks you normally have no oil pressure.

No not always, I've had ford crossflows blow oil lines up when they jam, sometimes they jam open other times close.

True and whilst earlier cars had an issue with their pressure relief valve, a fault wont cause the tickover pressure rise. It will cause the full chat pressure to go through the roof though.....
