The suggestion to try Amazon is a good one. I actually found that the Amazon Germany prices were much better than the UK ones. They do vary enormously from day to day (even hour to hour) but if you keep an eye to it you can pick up the B6's really cheaply. I've just checked back and I picked up the fronts and rears for 420 Euro delivered which at the time was about £340.

As others have said it is probably worth checking that your issues are not caused by the worn drop links but even so the B6s make a huge difference once you have all the other suspension bushes replaced.

Hope that helps

Matt

As Oli says, take the old ones off and see what they're like. It'll take you 20 mins per side if you only have 1 cup of tea.... I was able to compress mine by hand and they simply never came back up - so were binned.

If you do go for a suspension refresh, don't skimp on the geometry setup. I put Bilsteins all round on my S2 and it felt better than the 25 year old stock items, but it wasn't until the geo was done that I saw any drastic improvement.

Cheers,
Bryan

Old shocks don't come back nor do pure oil ones. If they are gas it is a different matter.

On a few occasions I have had brand new dampers including Spax where I have compressed them but they have not sprung back. I then need to pull them out.

The trick is not pulling them out but seeing how consistent they are. If they pull out with zero effort the chances are the dampers have seen their days. Same for if you compress the dampers.

I am now guilty of afformentioned scope creep . One rear shock is confirmed as kaput . I have ordered a full set of bilstein b6's :D

Amazon have them cheap at the moment so it was only 274 of my pounds
