Hi all,

Picked up a 944 Turbo project a few weeks ago and still awaiting for the history to appear , the car is an 86 turbo PXI 8944 if anyone know the car ?? car has a stage 2 chip but apart from that all standard , will need a fair amount of work to refresh as has been stood for over 10years , having said that its very solid only needing one sill /lower rear quarter replacing plus re-paint (Guards Red) , not tried to start the car and I think after all that time be best to take the engine out and refresh before hand (thoughts ??) along with a new clutch plus refurb of the other mechanicals, will keep you posted ,

Regards Jon

My car had stood for a similar length of time, it needed cambelt, balance belt, rollers and tensioners, water pump, brake fluid replacing, oil and filter and 4 new tyres as although they passed the MOT I was not comfortable driving on them. I then required a new clutch as the rubber doughnut had broken down. Good luck with getting it up and running and don't forget to put some photos up.

People will disagree as always, but personally I'd

Put some oil down the bores and hand crank/spin the start up to circulate the oil around
Change the engine oil
Change the Coolant
Change suspect looking coolant hoses along the way
Change the brake fluid
Change the belts

I put in an engine into my first S2 which had been stood for a similar time With new belts on it the engine was a very sweet runner, and to my knowledge still is today.
