Hi All, just a quick line that may help someone in the future. I have an 88 944S which was loosing more than 1 volt between the starter motor and battery. The alterntor charged at 13.96 volts but at the battery 12.70. Additonally when the car had been driven for 10 or 20 minutes, a whining could be heard from the dash and if I used the main beam flash the instrument pack would die and the radio turn off. After lots of searching I found a crimped connector in the passenger footwell. This is the main power from the battery to the starter but branches off at the crimp to power the fuse box. My voltage drop was here. Unpinned from the floor, heated with a small flame and ran solder into the fuse box wires and hey presto voltage drop gone! Only taken 4 months to find. Hope this does someone a turn.
